Philadelphia PA Health Insurance
Reader’s Question:
I just finished my underwriting process for my health insurance coverage application in Philadelphia. What else shall I expect from this point onwards?
Katherine
Philadelphia, PA
How are you, Katherine?
Most health insurance companies in Philadelphia PA normally do not stop fishing information after the underwriting process. They would normally verify if you were telling the truth during your one-on-one interview by consulting the MIB group. MIB is a membership association that maintains a database of information on the status of applicants’ health. MIB normally have records on file of your health history if you have applied for insurance in the past 7 years. But what is you want to verify the accuracy of MIB records? You can always ask the MIB to send you yearly records to determine the accuracy at no charge at all.
So what if you have a pre-existing condition such as a terminal illness, say cancer or AIDS? Each state has a different law on cases like this, but there is always something that you can do in case of denial by an insurance provider. There are some insurance companies that don’t offer complete coverage for pre-existing conditions. An example I can give you is the case of diabetes. Some companies would grant coverage to applicants with a pre-existing diabetes but with limited coverage, or with a higher premium rate. Some states do not allow denial for health insurance coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions, and in case you are denied for a certain medical condition that you might be found to have, you can always check with the laws in this state.
