Bethlehem, PA

It is good that you asked, Bob.

I know a lot of people who gets confused with their life insurance rates for the reason that there are just too many kinds out there. Most life insurance rates are easily misunderstood, not to mention, gets to be mixed up.

For starters like you, many factors come in when determining the rate of life insurance policies in Pennsylvania. Among these factors in determining premiums for life insurance include your age, current health conditions, gender, whether you smoke or not, occupation or hobbies (whether hazardous or not). On top of these determinants, the company will also include a profit margin on your life insurance policy.

Your health condition is important for life insurance companies in Pennsylvania to determine the probability of your death. “Preferred Rates” which are the lowest rates are for people with excellent health conditions. Almost everyone though falls into the standard group usually due to family history or minor health issues.

Age and gender predetermines your life expectancy. Men are known to live shorter than women. Lower rates are given to younger age as when you are younger, you are also expected to live longer, of course. Life insurance companies usually have a schedule of mortality tables and rate tables that determines the premium for every bracket.

With regards to occupations, life insurance companies also see to it if your occupation if dangerous, such as being a pilot or being a soldier. As these occupations are risky, only special kinds of insurance with a few companies can be availed by these occupations. The same with is true your activities, such as going diving or sky diving, which are considered to be activities that can endanger your life.
